The Airport provides a temporary, short-term facility courtesy hold for personal items found unattended within the terminal and airport-managed grounds. The Airport, its employees, and Kalamazoo County are not responsible for the safekeeping, condition, or protection of unattended items left on airport property, nor for any loss or damage incurred while items are temporarily stored. In accordance with the Michigan Lost and Unclaimed Property Act (MCL 434.21), all unclaimed items are legally transferred to the custody of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office for final statutory processing and disposition after their designated facility hold window (14 days for high-value electronics/currency/IDs; 30 days for general items). Once an item is transferred to law enforcement, the Airport cannot retrieve or claim responsibility for the property.
