Air Fair is one of our most anticipated annual events, bringing the excitement of aviation directly to the Southwest Michigan community. Hosted each year at the airport, this family-friendly event offers free admission and invites guests of all ages to experience the world of flight up close. Whether you are an aviation enthusiast or simply looking for a unique way to spend the day, Air Fair creates an unforgettable atmosphere filled with energy, discovery, and hands-on experiences!
Throughout the event, attendees can explore a wide variety of activities designed to engage and entertain. From interactive displays and aviation exhibits to a diverse selection of food and drinks, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The highlight of Air Fair, of course, is the airplanes themselves. Guests have the rare opportunity to get up close to a range of aircraft, meet pilots, and learn more about the technology and skill that make flight possible. The event also offers chances to witness real-time landings and takeoffs, giving visitors a behind-the-scenes look at airport operations.
One of the most meaningful experiences at Air Fair is the opportunity for young attendees to participate in Young Eagles flights. For many children, this is their very first time in the air, sparking a lifelong interest in aviation. These flights are made possible through dedicated volunteers who are passionate about sharing the joy of flying and inspiring the next generation of aviators. Seeing the excitement on a child’s face as they take off is truly one of the most special moments of the day.

2026 Air Fair Introductory Flight Lessons
Kalamazoo Flight Instruction will be offering introductory flight lessons at the 2026 Kalamazoo Air Fair. Flights will start at 10:00am on September 26th and go on through the entirety of the event. The flights will take off from the event at the Kalamazoo Flight Instruction Booth.
The introductory flight will include a session with a Certified Flight Instructor. The instructor will brief the participant about the airplane, show the student how the airplane is operated, and take the student on a 20-25 minute flight lesson. The participant will have the opportunity to take the controls in flight.
Intro flight participant requirements:

Age 15 or older

Weigh 275 lbs or less

Our instructors retain the right to refuse a flight with anyone who they feel may be unsafe or unfit for flight. A refund will be provided.
Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time. Participants must check in at the Kalamazoo Flight Instruction (KFI) Booth on the airport tarmac at the Air Fair. No refund will be made for anyone who does not arrive at their slotted time.
